A great grip it and rip it par five will start your round. Even though a generous fairway awaits you, trees on the left and right will grab a few tee shots. Players will need to stay away from the fairway bunker on the right side to set up the approach shot. Aim for the middle of this two level green with a bunker set on the left for your par.

A nice easy tee shot down the left center of the fairway is the best way to an easy par on this hole. A large tree on the front right will clip many fairway shots. A large green with subtle breaks should set up for and easy par.

The third hole has several hazards. The entire left side of the hole is out of bounds and a large group of trees and water guard the second third of the hole. A tee shot down the left side of the hole is ideal. Make sure you take plenty of club to get over the bunker that guards the front right hand portion of the green.

This hole is one of my favorite par 4's in Sarasota. A sweeping dogleg left with trees and out of bounds down the left make for a very intimidating tee shot. If the skilled player can draw the ball around the corner, the player will find a mid to long iron to the green. Bunkers on the front right and back left can come into play as well.

The first par three is also the longest. A strong tee shot is needed to an elevated green, which has a hog back running through the middle. Par is a very good score for this par 3.

The sixth hole is a narrow par four that becomes very tricky as the player approaches the green. The wind will tend to swirl around the elevated green. The large putting surface slopes dramatically front to back with a green side bunker on the left.

Time for a break? This little par 3 looks easy on paper, but the bunkers surrounding the green can create an easy bogie. Knock it on the green and grab an easy birdie or par.

A drive down the left side of the fairway will set up an easy mid or short iron shot to the green. Don't miss too far left, or the lake will swallow your shot. Take enough club to clear the front bunkers.

This par 5 can be very rewarding if you hit your tee shot down the left side. The woods on the right will consume the player who fades the ball, so place your tee shot left center. Take the water on the right out of play and hit a mid iron for a very short iron into the green. A very generous green awaits your birdie putt.

The back nine starts with a very long par 4. The tenth hole has trees on both sides of the fairway and a bunker down the right. The elevated green puts a premium on your iron shot. Players must be able to pitch well if they miss this green.

The tee shot needs to avoid the large oak tree down the left hand side of the fairway. Players need to lay up to avoid the fairway bunkers approximately 75 yards from the green. Take plenty of club to clear the front bunkers. Pro tip -- this green is the fastest on the golf course.

After the view of the first of two signature holes takes your breath away, gather yourself to hit a scary tee shot over the watery grave. Check the wind before you select your club. The wind will feel differently on the tee than it does on the green. Take enough club to get to the putting surface, make your 2 putt and get out of town!
Hole #13 - Click here for a view from the tee box
A short, narrow par 4 with a creek running down the left side of the entire hole invites many players to hit their tee shots down the right side. The green is the hardest to hit on the golf course due to the fact it is the smallest and slopes front to back.

A slight power fade is the ideal tee shot. A short to mid iron to a slightly elevated green, which always plays a half club longer faces the player. An easy par four and off to the meat the golf course.

Don't be bashful on the tee shot. This hole is one of the longest par 4's in Sarasota. The hole is uphill and usually into the wind. Your approach shot is also uphill and a large pine tree protects the right hand side of the green. A par feels like a birdie on this hole.

Short on distance, but long on difficulty. The tee shot of about 185 yards needs to be on the left side of the fairway. The forest on the right hand side of the hole will capture many tee shots. Your second shot requires the player to clear the creek and land on a three-tiered green. A player making a par on this hole will gain a shot on the field.

A short par 3 that can play tricks on your tee shot with the swirling wind. A short or mid iron must clear the front bunkers. An easy 2 putt leads us to 18 and the second signature hole.

A gambler's dream hole!! The player can play a conservative tee shot straight out toward the fairway bunker. The player can also try to fade their tee shot around the lake, and set up a shot to the green. Players can lay up in front of the green or try to take a fairway wood over the lake in two. The green has three levels and the back position pin is the toughest to contend with.
And you can get around the 6800 yard layout in four hours or less. Have a great round. |
